A video-based workshop that is comprised of four separate sections. Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Program Perspectives, Student Perspectives, Preceptor Strategies, and a Tool Section. This workshop focuses on competence and skills that nurse practitioners and physician assistants need when serving as preceptors. The goal of the workshop is to encourage APPs to precept and to provide more support and education to allow them to feel successful doing so.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (1.75 hours), AAPA Category 1 CME credits (1.75 hours), ANCC Contact Hours (1.75 hours), Non-Physician Participation Credit (1.75 hours)

1. Describe preceptor roles and responsibilities
2. Assess the preceptee’s learning needs
3. Name two techniques for evaluating critical thinking in graduate clinical learners.
4. Implement strategies to communicate/give feedback effectively
5. Identify precepting strategies to use when delivering healthcare.

Stanford Medicine designates this enduring material for a maximum of 1.75 ANCC contact hours.   

American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) - Enduring Materials 
Stanford Medicine has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This enduring activity is designated for 1.75 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. Approval is valid until August 30, 2024. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.
