This video-based workshop is structured into four comprehensive sections: APP Program Perspectives, Student Perspectives, Difficult Conversations, Preceptor Strategies, and a Tools Section. It is designed to enhance the competence and skills of nurse practitioners and physician assistants who serve as preceptors. The workshop aims to encourage Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) to take on precepting roles by offering targeted support and education, empowering them to feel confident and successful in guiding the next generation of healthcare professionals.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (2.00 hours), AAPA Category 1 CME credits (2.00 hours), ANCC Contact Hours (2.00 hours), Non-Physician Participation Credit (2.00 hours)

1. Describe preceptor roles and responsibilities.
2. Assess the preceptee’s learning needs.
3. Name two techniques for evaluating critical thinking in graduate clinical learners.
4. Implement strategies to communicate/give feedback effectively.
5. Identify precepting strategies to use when delivering healthcare.

In support of improving patient care, Stanford Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Stanford Medicine designates this enduring material for a maximum of 2.00 ANCC contact hours.  

American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) - Enduring Materials 
Stanford Medicine has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This enduring activity is designated for 2.00 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. Approval is valid until August 31, 2027. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.
