Description
The Stanford WellMD & WellPhD Center is offering a virtual 6 session course designed for physicians who are directing and leading local physician well-being efforts.  Utilizing the Stanford Model of Professional FulfillmentTM, this course will equip leaders with the skills and tools necessary to catalyze changes at the local level in departments, divisions, practices, sites and groups to achieve the greatest impact, as they initiate or expand focus on physician fulfillment and well-being.  Throughout the course, participants will have the opportunity to experiment with course content and resources in robust small group exercises during the sessions and apply these in their organizations between sessions.  Target course participants include physician well-being directors, chiefs, chairs, medical directors, wellness committee leaders, quality improvement leaders, program improvement leaders, residency program directors and others who are able to influence physician well-being in their organizations.

All interested applicants must submit an application. You are encouraged to apply early as space is limited and this course is in high demand.

Time Commitment

Space is limited in this 6-week course.  The course requires approximately 5 hours per week including preparation, 2.5 hour weekly sessions, and exercises to further explore and apply learnings within your organization.  In addition, 2 follow-up sessions are provided to address participants’ questions and experiences as they apply the principles in their respective organizations.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. List the factors that contribute to physician well-being and the organizational science on promoting professional fulfillment
  2. Recognize the importance of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in achieving the goals of professional fulfillment and well-being
  3. Develop familiarity with evidence-based approaches to promote professional fulfillment for physicians based on a culture of wellness, efficiency of practice, and personal resilience
  4. Assess the local needs of physicians and incorporate basic principles of improvement science when approaching local physician well-being initiatives
  5. Utilize effective methods to gain group and leadership involvement and engagement
  6. Design, implement, assess, and communicate local physician wellness efforts
  7. Demonstrate the benefits of adopting evidence-based practices to enhance personal wellness

Learners engage adequately to select answers to questions using the ARS. Threshold set by provider.

Learner participates in the table-top discussion and writes a possible next step to each question/set point in discussion. Judged by a group leader or observer.

Learner participates in simulation as judged by a facilitator or observer.
