Overview
The next cohort of the Physician Well-being Director Course will start on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 3:00-5:30PM Pacific Time, followed by an optional 30min networking session, and run for six consecutive Tuesdays.

The virtual six-week Physician Well-being Director Course is designed to equip and empower department/unit physician well-being leaders, chiefs, chairs, structural line leaders, medical directors, wellness committee leaders, quality improvement leaders, program improvement leaders, residency program directors, and others to be the agents of change to support physician well-being at their organizations at the local level. This course is designed as synchronous, live learning experience on Zoom with assignments and activities to complete between sessions. Each week explores a different aspect of physician occupational well-being through a combination of didactic lectures from Stanford faculty and group activities. Drawing on the research and expertise of Stanford WellMD & WellPhD faculty, the course is designed to increase the knowledge, self-efficacy, and skills of department or division-level physician occupational well-being leaders.

The course contains the following components:
Didactic presentations and panels featuring Stanford leadership and faculty who present insights from the latest research in the field, teach the Stanford Model and other key concepts, and provide context and inspiration regarding how Stanford applies this work in our own hospitals and health system.

Peer-to-peer learning in small group exercises designed to facilitate networking and comradery, to provide a focused environment to discuss course content, and to create a space for participants to practice and get feedback on ideas that could be implemented in their home organizations.

Individual participant work (prework and homework) assignments, emails, references, and resources for critical thinking and application of learnings in home organizations.

Application Process
To apply for Cohort 4 click here

The application for Cohort 4 is now open. Please carefully read the information below. Applications will be vetted on a rolling basis until the course is full. We cannot guarantee a seat in the course, but if you are part of the target audience (e.g., department/unit-level physician occupational well-being leaders), we encourage you to apply. If you are a Chief Wellness Officer, or other c-level executive, we encourage you to apply instead to our Chief Wellness Officer Course (CWOC).

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and, in most cases, you will be notified with an application decision within two weeks of applying.
Acceptance to the course is limited to the target audience, which includes physician occupational well-being leaders who are agents of change in their organizations at the department, division, or unit level. In your application you will be asked information including:

·       Your name, contact information, and degree
·       Your organization
·       Your role and scope
·       Whether you have protected time for your physician well-being work
·       The number of physicians whose occupational well-being you lead initiatives for
·       Any other populations you lead well-being initiatives for
·       Who in your organization supports your work
·       How many years you have been leading physician well-being efforts
·       The biggest challenges you are facing as you lead this work
·       Your goals for participating in this course

Acceptance
You will receive the results of your application by email, usually within two weeks of your application submission. If you are part of the target audience (e.g., physician occupational well-being leaders who are agents of change in their organizations at the department, division, or unit level) we encourage you to block the dates in your calendar for the course. If you are part of the target audience and we cannot accommodate you in this cohort, we will keep you in our system for a future cohort.

If you are accepted, you will receive detailed information about how to access the course sessions and content. The course is a live, synchronous class that runs each week over the six-week period for a 2.5 hour learning session followed by a .5 hour networking session. In between sessions there are 1-2 hours of reading and other activities. Please apply for the course only if you can secure the time necessary to be successful in this learning experience.
