Stanford Health Care and Stanford Children's Health are excited to present our inaugural collaborative respiratory care symposium, a two-day event dedicated to advancing the field of respiratory care across the adult and pediatric spectrum. This symposium is an invaluable opportunity for healthcare professionals to come together, share best practices, and explore the latest advancements in respiratory care. Topics will include: Percussive Ventilation Breath Hold to improve outcomes in Lung Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (PVB-SABR), Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD) ventilation, Pulsatile Flow Ventilation, rib fracture management and its implications for respiratory therapy, Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), vaping, Interstitial Lung Disease, hemoptysis, pediatric tracheostomy in complex airway patients, Airway Pressure Release Ventilation (APRV), and implicit biases in healthcare.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Describe the latest evidence-based practices in managing Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and other complex respiratory conditions.
  2. Demonstrate proficiency in advanced ventilation techniques, including VDR4 and Airway Pressure Release Ventilation (APRV).
  3. Identify effective strategies for managing pediatric airway complications, such as bronchopulmonary dysplasia and tracheostomy care.
  4. Analyze the impact of emerging respiratory challenges, like vaping-related lung injuries, and apply appropriate interventions.
  5. Develop leadership and communication skills for conducting post-code debriefs and addressing implicit biases in respiratory care.
