Overview
The Stanford Optic Disc Drusen Symposium will provide an overview of clinical and scientific research on optic disc drusen, an optic neuropathy characterized by calcified deposits at the unmyelinated optic nerve that can cause irreversible vision loss by interrupting signal transmission between the eye and the brain. This activity will feature expert panel discussions, patient discussion, and a poster session featuring Stanford optic nerve and retinal ganglion cell research (in person only).

Registration
For more information and to register, please visit:
https://med.stanford.edu/optic-disc-drusen/meetings-and-lecture-videos/2022.html

Credits
AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (5.00 hours), ABO MOC Part II (5.00 hours), Non-Physician Participation Credit (5.00 hours)

Target Audience
Specialties - Ophthalmology
Professions - Non-Physician, Physician

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Discuss what optic disc drusen is and how they cause vision loss
  2. Apply the latest clinical and basic science research in optic disc drusen
  3. Identify optic neuropathies such as anterior ischemic optic neuropathy and glaucoma, which are relevant to vision loss in optic disc drusen

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Stanford Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
