Overview

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based, patient-centered communication approach to increase patient motivation for making health behavior changes. Examples of behavior change targets in the healthcare setting include: medication adherence, eating and exercise behaviors, weight management, smoking cessation and substance use.

A common challenge for healthcare professionals is addressing ambivalence in patients who would benefit from making a health behavior change. Among ambivalent patients, the traditional advice-giving approach commonly employed in healthcare settings may not result in behavior change, and may even lead to resistance.

We invite you to join us for the virtual Motivational Interviewing - Core Skills Workshop to learn practical, evidence-based communication techniques for increasing patient motivation for health behavior change.
