Stanford Medcast Episode 74: Opioid Crisis Mini-Series - Addiction Recovery and Prison Re-Entry Programs

In this episode, we have the privilege of speaking with Dr. Noel Vest, an Assistant Professor at the Boston University School of Public Health. Drawing from his unique journey as a formerly incarcerated scholar, Dr. Vest is a dedicated advocate for social justice issues and public policy reform in the realm of substance use disorder recovery and prison reentry. Our conversation delves into the complexity of substance abuse disorders and the underlying mental health issues that drive addiction. We emphasize the critical need for effective prison re-entry prison re-entry programs and discuss the challenges individuals face upon rejoining society after incarceration.
