This course is designed for physicians and advanced care practitioners caring for patients in a primary care setting. The course will provide a clinical overview of the diagnosis and management strategies of common GI and liver disorders that are encountered in the primary care setting and provide guidance on how and when to refer patients to their GI counterparts.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Evaluate the most common key diseases in gastroenterology and hepatology
  2. Develop strategies to evaluate and manage patients presenting with diseases in gastroenterology and hepatology commonly encountered in a primary care setting
  3. Determine follow-up management of key diseases in conjunction with gastroenterology and when, if needed, to refer to a GI specialist.

In support of improving patient care, Stanford Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Stanford Medicine designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 5.25 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

American Board of Internal Medicine MOC Credit 
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 5.25 Medical Knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
