Overview
Thoracic aortic aneurysms and dissections are associated with significant morbidity and mortality, yet many patients with heritable aortic disorders remain unrecognized until a catastrophic event occurs. This educational activity will provide a practical review of thoracic aortic disease, including both sporadic and heritable forms such as Marfan syndrome, Loeys-Dietz syndrome, and vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Participants will learn to recognize clinical and imaging features suggestive of underlying genetic aortopathy, understand indications for genetic evaluation and family screening, and apply current evidence-based recommendations for surveillance imaging, medical therapy, blood pressure and lipid management, and exercise counseling. Through expert guidance from cardiology and cardiovascular genetics, learners will gain knowledge to improve early diagnosis, risk stratification, and longitudinal management of patients with thoracic aortic disease.
