Overview
This Pediatric Emergency Medicine Morbidity and Mortality series focuses on improving the safe, timely, and effective care of children through the review of high-risk and high-volume clinical conditions, evaluation of performance against evidence-based guidelines, identification of opportunities for improvement, and implementation of targeted interventions to reduce morbidity. Ongoing monitoring and iterative quality improvement cycles support the sustainability of best practices and continuous learning across the emergency department and interdisciplinary care teams.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Analyze current guidelines and literature to identify and apply best practices in pediatric emergency care.
  2. Identify quality-of-care issues and implement evidence-based improvements to enhance patient safety and clinical outcomes.
  3. Evaluate diverse practice approaches through case-based discussions to determine optimal, evidence-based management strategies for patients.
