Master Clinician Series 2026: June: Loneliness and Isolation in Psychosis

This course is designed to present practitioners with an overview of the evidence related to understanding and addressing loneliness and isolation in people living with psychosis. We will review research on the different social difficulties people with psychosis face, with a focus on the prevalence and unique mental and physical health consequences of loneliness for this population. We will then discuss evidence-based assessments for loneliness and review interventions that have shown promise in addressing loneliness for people living with psychosis, including positive psychology interventions, mindfulness-based stress reduction, shared subjective experiences, and narrative enhanced cognitive therapy. Case examples will be used throughout the presentation to illustrate these and other strategies, with a focus on patients with multiple intersecting marginalized identities.
