CVICU Educational Series

Occurs monthly on the 3rd Thursday starting on 9/18/2025 at 3:00 PM

The CVICU is a high-acuity, busy unit with a home base of attending physicians and advance practice providers and a rotating staff of residents and fellows from a variety of backgrounds (anesthesia, critical care, cardiac surgery, emergency medicine, IR, medicine, etc.) Given the wide ranging level of experience by providers in this unit and the rising level of acuity this series aims to keep providers up to date on the latest research and best practices in the field.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (1.00 hours), Non-Physician Participation Credit (1.00 hours)

1. Apply up-to-date evidence and best practices to the postoperative cardiac surgery population.
2. Understand and utilize management strategies of CVICU specific equipment such as ECMO, VAD, and Impella to improve care for acute postoperative cardiac surgery patients.

In support of improving patient care, Stanford Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
