Overview
This workshop, facilitated by Ro Speight, NYCPS, Anti-Oppression Advocate and POD Co-Trainer, and Cindy Peterson-Dana, MSW, LMHC, POD Trainer, will center an interactive, participatory exploration of the history and expansion of Peer Supported Open Dialogue and current theoretical adaptations that focus on expanding dialogical approaches within a more inclusive sociocultural and sociopolitical praxis. The workshop will center on the complexities of peer support work in Westernized interdisciplinary mental health and behavioral health service models, including learning how a social network approach helps to deconstruct the intersectional opportunities and contradictions of lived experience as individual expertise and collective expression of equity, anti-oppression, and epistemic justice.

At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Discuss the seven foundational principles of Peer Supported Open Dialogue And Social Networking Practice
  2. Identify the best practices of Peer Support Work, lived experience and lived expertise in Interdisciplinary Context from and Anti-Oppression and Equity based dialogic framework
  3. Review the nuances of dialogic theory and specific contexts in which dialogic practices operates
  4. Apply sociocultural and epistemic justice knowledge to promote client and family agency and autonomy
  5. Develop an understanding and experience the practice of reflection as used within a social network approach and within social network meetings
