Thoracic Radiation Oncology Quality and Peer Review Rounds

Radiation oncology is a branch of medicine that involves the use of ionizing radiation to treat cancer. It is a complex and rapidly-evolving field that requires an in-depth understanding of both the biological and physical aspects of radiation. This series explores the biology and clinical management of thoracic cancers, the principles of radiotherapy physics, and the diverse techniques and technologies applied across different disease sites. It is designed for an interprofessional audience, including radiation oncology attending and resident physicians, dosimetrists, medical physicists, nurse coordinators, radiation therapists, and other department members.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (1.00 hours), Non-Physician Participation Credit (1.00 hours)

1. Describe recent oncologic and non-oncologic studies and clinical trials related to radiation therapy.
2. Identify and incorporate diverse clinical and dosimetric strategies used in the planning and delivery of radiation therapy across tumor types.
3. Demonstrate the ability to discuss key radiation oncology concepts and clinical decision-making in a structured and evaluative format.
4. Effectively present pertinent patient information in a concise and structured manner.
5. Systematically review and assess radiation treatment plans for accuracy and appropriateness.
