Palliative Care is a specialized form of comprehensive medical care designed for individuals facing a serious illness and their families. It aims to alleviate symptoms and stress of the physical symptoms, psychological distress, and existential or spiritual concerns, while also offering assistance with the practical aspects of life. This series provides clinicians with insights into the evolving practice guidelines and latest research on managing conditions commonly seen in palliative care, family medicine and their subspecialties.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (1.00 hours), ASWB Continuing Education (ACE) credits (1.00 hours), Non-Physician Participation Credit (1.00 hours)

1. Understand the fundamental principles of palliative care, including its holistic approach to addressing physical symptoms, psychological distress, spiritual concerns, and practical aspects of life for individuals facing serious illnesses and their families.
2. Identify opportunities to improve patient care and symptom management with in the field of palliative care
3. Enhance necessary skills to effectively alleviate and manage a range of symptoms associated with serious illnesses, including both physical symptoms and psychological distress.
4. Explore the latest research and evolving practice guidelines to stay informed on best practices in symptom management within the context of palliative care.
5. Integrate strategies for offering assistance with practical aspects of life to enhance the overall well-being of patients and their support systems.

In support of improving patient care, Stanford Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
