Overview
Emergency Medicine Grand Rounds provides physicians with new treatment modalities for conditions with changing epidemiology, the latest research, practice guidelines, and treatment protocols to advance best practices in the care of patients presenting to the emergency department.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Critically review and apply new treatment modalities and best practices to the care of patients presenting to the emergency department.
  2. Incorporate new treatment modalities and nonaddictive interventions for the management of pain in the ED.
  3. Utilize strategies and resources to de-escalate potentially violent patients in the ED.
  4. Integrate population health management strategies in the management of ED patients. Define “precision emergency medicine” and identify opportunities to incorporate precision EM principles in patient care in the emergency department.
  5. Recognize populations with discreet needs that present to the emergency department and apply appropriate management strategies to optimize care.
