Women's Health: Breast Cancer Screening - Supplemental Imaging and Genetic Testing

In this episode, we're joined by Allison Kurian, M.D., M.Sc., Professor of Medicine in the Division of Oncology and Department of Epidemiology and Population health at Stanford University. We'll discuss breast cancer screening updates, risk reduction through lifestyle changes, and the significance of various non-modifiable risk factors. We'll explore various screening tools, including contrast-enhanced mammography, whole-breast ultrasounds, and MRI. Factors, such as dense breast tissue, racial disparities, family history will be addressed. We’ll review updates on when to consider genetic testing and chemoprevention for breast cancer. Join us to learn about the current strategies to reduce breast cancer mortality and the future direction in gene therapy and personalized medicine.
