Radiation Oncology Annual Core Competencies Refresher

Radiation oncology is a branch of medicine that involves the use of ionizing radiation to treat cancer. It is a complex and rapidly-evolving field that requires an in-depth understanding of both the biological and physical aspects of radiation. This lecture series will cover a broad range of topics, including the biology and physics of radiotherapy and the various techniques and technologies used across the spectrum of disease sites for an interprofessional audience of radiation oncology attending and resident physicians, dosimetrists, medical physicists, nurse coordinators, radiation therapists, and other members of the department.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (0.50 hours), Non-Physician Participation Credit (0.50 hours)

1. Apply strategies in checking new start films across disease sites.
2. Utilize knowledge and strategies for evaluation and management of acute on-treatment toxicities across disease sites.
3. Apply strategies covering/supervising simulations across disease sites.
4. Utilize knowledge and strategies for treatment covering/supervising stereotactic radiation treatments across disease sites.

In support of improving patient care, Stanford Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
