Breast Cancer Molecular Testing & What’s New in Breast Cancer Care

This webinar will provide an update on breast cancer molecular testing and what’s new in breast cancer care, including how to interpret genetic test results and how to recommend treatment and surgical interventions to patients. In some cases, de-escalation may be a recommendation. The webinar sessions will be led by Milana Dolezal, MD, MSci and Jean Jingzhi Bao, MD. Dr. Dolezal is an oncologist and hematologist with University Medical Partners in Emeryville. Dr. Bao is a surgeon specializing in breast surgical oncology at Stanford’s School of Medicine.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (0.75 hours), Non-Physician Participation Credit (0.75 hours)

1. Interpret germline gene testing indications in cancer patients, impacts on surveillance, and implications for surgical/clinical management.
2. Review translation of pathology findings and various mutation platforms to clinical applications for cancer treatment decisions and personalized medicine.
3. Recognize that personalized medicine in terms of breast cancer care has many facets and may involve “de-escalation” of therapy based on less concerning tumor characteristics and gene profiles.
