Overview

This comprehensive, multidisciplinary, state-of-the-art course offers airway training to a national and international audience. It provides participants with the essential evidence-based knowledge and technical skills to manage anticipated and unanticipated difficult airway in the operating room, emergency department, and intensive care unit as well as in diverse clinical settings. The conference will integrate various educational formats including extensive hands-on practice at the stations, didactic lectures, immersive simulation workshops, Lunch and Learn sessions, and expert panel discussions. The course is ideally suited for the anesthesiologists, critical care, emergency medicine, and ENT physicians.

ATTENTION: 
In order to register and attend the Stanford Advanced Airway Management Course, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, (including a booster vaccination).  The format of the course includes small, hands-on groups, working very closely with each other.  Due to the inability to maintain social distancing, we are requiring that attendees are vaccinated.

All attendees must wear a mask when indoors.

All visitors need to complete the Daily COVID-19 Health Attestation Form, found here, on the same day they plan to visit a Stanford campus, and prior to their arrival. 

Do not attend the event if:

  • You are experiencing, or within 10 days prior to the event, have experienced signs and symptoms of COVID-10
  • Have been exposed to a confirmed case of COVID-19
  • Have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and are not yet cleared by the health care team responsible for your treatment.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Integrate into practice effective approaches and strategies for predicting and managing difficult airway, per latest evidence-based medicine data.
  2. Apply advanced oxygenation techniques, such as Transnasal Humidified Rapid-Insufflation Ventilatory Exchange (THRIVE).
  3. Develop skills for alternative ventilation and oxygenation strategies using supraglottic airway (SGA) devices, flexible scope-assisted SGA-endotracheal tube exchange, and emergency front of neck access (eFONA)
  4. Enhance crisis resources management (CRM) skills.
  5. Determine proper patient selection and preparation for awake flexible scope intubation (FSI).
