Overview
The 8th Annual Navigating Spine Care is a one-day course highlighting best practices and innovations in spine care.  This interprofessional and interdisciplinary CME activity is designed for primary care physicians, family medicine physicians, neurologists, orthopedic surgeons, physiatrists, pain specialists, and physical therapists.  Stanford faculty and guest speakers will discuss diagnostic principles, approaches to management, therapeutic treatments, surgical techniques, and additional topics relevant to patients presenting with complex spinal disorders.  Participants will learn about evidenced-based options and the latest technological advances in spine care through an engaging curriculum that incorporates didactic lectures, a hands-on demonstration, breakout sessions, panel discussions, and a Q&A with experts in the field.

Registration fee includes course materials, certificate of participation, breakfast and lunch.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Evaluate, diagnose, counsel, manage and/or, when appropriate, refer patients who present with spine conditions.
  2. Interpret and apply current evidence-based treatment options for spinal conditions.
  3. Order and interpret diagnostic imaging for patients with spinal conditions.
  4. Discuss innovative techniques and approaches to caring for patients with spinal-related complaints.
  5. Describe appropriate pain management strategies for patients with spine-related pain.

Accreditation
The Stanford University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation 
The Stanford University School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.50 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

The California Board of Registered Nursing recognizes that Continuing Medical Education (CME) is acceptable for meeting RN continuing education requirements as long as the course is certified for AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM (rn.ca.gov).  Nurses will receive a Certificate of Participation following this activity that may be used for license renewal.

 

Stanford Health Care Department of Rehabilitation is an approved provider for physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech language pathology for courses that meet the requirements set forth by the respective Boards. This course is approved for 6.5 CEU’s for PT and OT.
