Overview

This presentation is a recording of a Stanford Pediatric Grand Rounds Session.  World-renowned experts will present the latest research, practice guidelines, and treatment protocols to advance best practices in the care of pediatric patients. These online recordings will provide pediatricians and family physicians with up-to-date clinical information on a wide range of clinical issues encountered in daily pediatric practice. In this session, we review what the current status of COVID-19 epidemiology with a focus on pediatrics, including what we currently understand about the omicron variants, the current efficacy and effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccines including boosters, and where we still have knowledge gaps.

Registration

  Release Date: June 30, 2023
  Expiration Date: June 29, 2024
Estimated Time to Complete: 1.0 hour
  Registration Fee: FREE
 *Originally recorded 04/13/2023.

Target Audience
Specialties - Pediatrics
Professions - Fellow/Resident, Physician

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Define the current epidemiology of SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19 disease in children.
  2. Determine the clinical and epidemiologic manifestations of the omicron variants, including what is known about long COVID in children.
  3. Define the efficacy and effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines and boosters across general and pediatric populations.
  4. Identify the risk benefit of COVID-19 vaccines in a variety of populations, including children.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Stanford Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
