Overview
Precision health holds great potential for revolutionizing health disparities research and interventions through a better understanding of the complex interplay between biological, behavioral, environmental, and social factors that contribute to health inequalities and influence population health. But the goal of achieving equity in precision health will require addressing persistent scientific gaps, confronting structural racism, and addressing social determinants of health and healthcare access. This four-part seminar series will present the state of the science of precision health equity, from societal, scientific, and clinical perspectives, and is designed to inform and inspire primary care providers to translate these innovations into their practices and communities. In this one hour, we will discuss polygenic risk scores in primary care screening.

  3. Translate innovations in in precision health equity into their practices and communities.
  4. Describe how risk for common, complex diseases seen in primary care involved multiple genes and social determinants and how polygenic risk scores can contribute to risk stratification of your patients in the future
  5. Apply knowledge with the use of polygenic risk scores to patients from multiple ethnic/racial backgrounds and emerging platforms to enable its application in primary care
