Overview
In this 2 hour webinar, we will review a pre-recorded video of a Pediatric Trauma Assessment in the field using primary & secondary survey methods. Following the video, we will discuss caveats of pediatric physiology, assessment, and treatment of a pediatric trauma patient.  A live session of the assessment, and treatment modalities will be debriefed by pediatric trauma panel experts. 

Participants are encouraged to gather in small teams at their workplaces, to simulate at the same time as the video session is being shown.  The content of this activity is geared towards Nurses and Emergency Medical Services professionals.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Perform an organized and systematic primary and secondary survey of the injured pediatric patient within the EMS/Hospital environment
  2. Explain the principles of airway management in the injured pediatric patient
  3. Recognize and manage shock in the injured pediatric patient
  4. Demonstrate accurate and concise hand off to the ED on arrival
  5. Describe methods and techniques to quickly stabilize and manage pediatric patients.

Presented in an interactive format: where if you choose to do so, your team can practice along with the simulation, and actively participate in the live debriefing session You do not have to have equipment or supplies to participate, but if your team would like to practice along you can assemble the following supplies if you have them available
