Overview
The Philanthropy Leadership Program (PLP) aims to equip Stanford Medicine Children's Health leaders and emerging leaders with the fundraising knowledge and communications skills needed to engage with our donor community. We also seek to deepen leaders' understanding of how Foundation partnership can enhance their ability to generate funds and advance their programmatic visions. In six, in-person sessions participants learn about fundraising strategy, their unique role in building relationships with donors, the landscape of Silicon Valley philanthropy, and communications best practices.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Explain the business model of philanthropy and its strategic role as a critical funding lever within the context of academic medicine.
  2. Define the clinician’s ethical role in identifying, building, and advancing long-term partnerships with donors and the Foundation.
  3. Articulate specific funding needs and impact stories effectively to potential donors through clear and professional communication.
  4. Move beyond a transactional view of fundraising to a relationship-based model that prioritizes community-building and patient outcomes.
  5. Apply practical fundraising skills and hands-on techniques, such as donor engagement and partnering with the Foundation, to bridge funding gaps in their respective fields.

In support of improving patient care, Stanford Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
