Overview

The California Academic Geriatrics Institutions (CAGI) Conference is an annual statewide forum that convenes leaders in academic geriatrics to advance education, research, clinical innovation, and collaboration in the care of older adults. The conference brings together faculty, fellows, trainees, and interdisciplinary partners from University of California campuses, private academic medical centers, and affiliated healthcare institutions across California. Its overarching mission is to strengthen the academic geriatrics community while addressing the evolving clinical, educational, and workforce challenges associated with an aging population. CAGI Conference provides a comprehensive platform for scholarly exchange and professional development. The program features keynote addresses from distinguished leaders in geriatrics and aging-related policy, highlighting current trends in healthcare delivery, workforce sustainability, and health system transformation. Panel discussions addressed critical topics such as geriatric workforce shortages, integration of age-friendly principles into health systems, and the role of academic geriatrics in shaping policy and advocacy at both state and national levels. In addition to formal programming, the CAGI Conference serves as an important venue for networking and relationship-building among academic geriatrics institutions. Structured breakout sessions and informal discussions facilitate cross-institutional dialogue, enabling participants to identify shared priorities and explore potential collaborations. These interactions foster connections that may support future multicenter research, shared educational resources, joint quality initiatives, and coordinated advocacy efforts across California.
