Overview

Primary care providers oftern are the front line in discovering newly emerged or underlying chronic health conditions in patients. Therefore, proficiency in orthopaedic exams is crucial in early detection of orthopaedic ailments. In this course, a didactic portion reviews common presentations for orthopaedic sports and back injuries and their management. Pertinent history and exam, appropriate use of imaging and referrals are also covered, supplemented by a physical exam skills practice demonstration to provide a real-world example of hands on skills training.

  1. Conduct a complete patient history for orthopaedic sports and back conditions.
  2. Identify when to refer patients for advanced imaging or to an appropriate specialist.
  3. Perform a complete physical exam for orthopaedic sports and back related injuries and conditions.
