Framed by the Stanford Model of Occupational Well-BeingTM, this virtual six-week educational series equips unit-level leaders with knowledge and tools to advance well-being in their departments, divisions, practices, sites, and groups. The course requires approximately five dedicated hours per week and includes didactic presentations, peer-to-peer learning, and individual participant work.

This application-based course is best suited for physician leaders with a mandate to improve physician well-being on their team or in their department. Applicant roles have included chairs, chiefs, directors, wellness committee leaders, and others.

At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. List the factors that contribute to well-being for physicians and other clinicians
  2. Develop familiarity with evidence-based approaches to promote professional fulfillment for physicians using a framework that includes culture of wellness, efficiency of practice, and personal resilience
  3. Navigate your individual unit’s needs and enact group-specific interventions designed to promote professional fulfillment
  4. Utilize effective methods to gain peer and leadership collaboration
  5. Recognize the importance of inclusion and belonging in achieving the goals of professional fulfillment and well-being
  6. Integrate basic principles of improvement science into approaching local physician well-being initiatives

In support of improving patient care, Stanford Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
