The 2025 Stanford Suicide Course promises to be one of the strongest yet. As in previous years, all presentations will feature entirely new content. This year’s topics will focus on suicide risk across the lifespan, with particular attention to both adolescent and older adult populations. Highlights include a novel suicide assessment protocol, brief intervention strategies, the latest research on the use of ketamine, and updated findings on the effectiveness of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). The course offers practical, evidence-based insights that will enhance clinical care across a range of treatment settings.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Identify ways to improve assessment of suicide risk and how to incorporate them into one’s practice.
  2. Discuss innovations in the treatment of the suicidal patient, including psychopharmacologic, interventional, and psychotherapeutic approaches, and safety planning.
  3. Outline special considerations in suicide assessment and treatment of patients, such as cultural and linguistic diversity, SUD and LGBTQ populations.

In support of improving patient care, Stanford Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
