Overview

This recorded conference highlighted the evidence of bulbar dysfunction features in neuromuscular disease, identified the appropriate screening and evaluation tools, provided updates in research and the translation to clinical care, and discussed therapeutic interventions for bulbar dysfunction. These recorded sessions clarified the perspectives of patients, caregivers, multi-disciplinary providers, and key stakeholders.

At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Describe the physiological aspects of bulbar dysfunction and appropriate assessments of bulbar impairment in NM individuals.
  2. Optimize clinical interventions based on the assessment of bulbar function to facilitate timely rehabilitation and improve overall outcomes for individuals with NM disease.
  3. Examine the current research evidence which can support translation to clinical care provision in NM disease.
