Stanford Medicine Orthopaedic Academy: Knee Pain and Instability

Join us to learn how to quickly and effectively assess knee concerns presented in a clinical setting. In this session, providers will learn how to conduct a comprehensive yet straightforward knee examination, develop a differential diagnosis for common knee conditions, determine when to request advanced imaging and identify the indications for specialized care.

1. Identify the clinical presentation and differential diagnosis of common knee conditions (ACL rupture, meniscus tear, patella dislocation, osteoarthritis, tendonitis)
2. Recognize key differentiating aspects of the history, physical examination, and initial radiographic evaluation
3. Review first line management of common knee conditions
4. Discuss when to order advanced imaging studies and the indications for specialized care.
