Women's Health: Cardiovascular Disease

Join us for an insightful discussion with Dr. Abha Khandelwel, Clinical Associate Professor in Cardiovascular Medicine at Stanford University. We will explore how cardiovascular disease continues to be under-recognized, under-diagnosed and under-treated in women. We will discuss the current trends in cardiovascular mortality, and go in depth on exploring sex-specific risk factors for cardiovascular disease in women.  Dr. Khandelwel will review lipoprotein(a) and ApoB testing, discuss how abnormal results may influence management of hyperlipidemia, and how to manage hyperlipidemia during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, and during menopause. We will also discuss diagnosis and management of non-obstructive ischemic heart disease that may more commonly present in women such as microvascular dysfunction and vasospasm.
