Overview

In this recorded Cardiology Grand Rounds presentation, Dr. Tracy Wang, Chief of Comparative Clinical Effectiveness Research at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), dissects research to drive improvements in care and outcomes of Patients with Cardiovascular Disease. Dr. Wang begins her lecture by reviewing health equity data, to include pharmacoequity, social determinants of health, systems-based outcomes differences and interhospital variations in post myocardial infarction EBM adherence. She then discusses data showing the association of early follow up and adherence to guidelines, comparing the use, and non-use, of advanced practice providers. 
Dr. Wang then moves on to review key highlights from the ARTEMIS trial, showing the link between affordability and guideline adherence. Shifting towards patient adherence research, Dr. Wang analyzes patient perception of risk and medication compliance, how to present risk to patients, how to address questions patients may have, patient driven trials, and informed consent. Dr.  Wang concludes her lecture with why and how to drive change and a brief highlight of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI.
