Overview
The 5th Annual Stanford Conference on Disability in Healthcare and Medicine will discuss how disability intersects with medicine and health professions. The conference goals are broad, including strategies for healthcare professionals with a disability, how institutions can support clinicians and medical trainees with disabilities, and dismantling barriers to health equity for patients with disabilities. Further, the conference hopes to influence the training of physicians and other healthcare providers in caring for patients with disabilities, using storytelling to dismantle ableism in medical education.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Develop strategies to overcome the barriers to disability inclusion in medicine for healthcare professionals, trainees and patients.
  2. Provide mentorship across the spectrum of healthcare providers, trainees and patients to assist in navigating medical education programs and healthcare systems.
  3. Utilize storytelling to foster inclusion and cultivate a workplace that values diversity and intersectionality, with a focus on the unique perspectives and contributions of individuals with disabilities
  4. Analyze the benefits and risks of the use of in AI-based systems in healthcare for those individuals with disabilities

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Stanford Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.  

Credit Designation 
American Medical Association (AMA) 
Stanford Medicine designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 6.25 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

Stanford Health Care Department of Rehabilitation is an approved provider for physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy for courses that meet the requirements set forth by the respective California Boards. This course is approved for 6.25 hour(s) CEU for PT, OT, and SLP.
