Overview
The School-based Mental Health ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) project, a collaboration between the Stanford Center for Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing and various school and community partners across California, seeks to enhance the understanding and treatment of pediatric mental health disorders in school environments. This initiative aims to: Improve knowledge of best practices related to school-based mental health. Foster professional connections among healthcare providers and school professionals. Provide clinical guidance to enhance youth mental health within educational settings. Through this collaborative effort, the project aspires to create a supportive network that equips school personnel with the skills and resources necessary to address and manage mental health challenges among students effectively.

Session Dates and Topics
Sessions will be held from 2:30 - 3:45 pm PT on:

September 25, 2024: Unpacking Wellness Centers Part 1: Overview and best practices
October 9, 2024: Exploring Rural School Mental Health Approaches (In-person session, no livestream)
November 6, 2024: Unpacking Wellness Centers Part 2: Starting and sustaining youth-led advisory groups
January 15, 2025: Guiding school-based mental health practitioners
March 5, 2025: Supporting collaborations between schools and community mental health partners
April 2, 2025: Intersectionality and mental health in schools
May 7, 2025: Suicide prevention

Important Course Information

We are using two separate platforms for different aspects of the program: Cloud CME and iECHO. For your convenience, you have the option to use the same login credentials for both Cloud CME and iECHO, but please remember that the 2 platforms operate separately.

Cloud CME: Registration and Claim CME/CE
iECHO: Join an ECHO session & access course materials

Invitation and Account Setup:
After registering for the ECHO program on Cloud CME, you will receive an invitation via email to set up your iECHO account. Invitations are sent every 1-2 weeks. Please follow the link provided in the email to set up your account and gain access to the program.

Accessing the Session: 
*The Zoom link to join the session will be sent 1 hour prior to the start time
The webinar sessions will be conducted via Zoom through the iECHO platform. On the day of the session, you can join directly from iECHO. Log in to your iECHO account and navigate to the session. Alternatively, an email containing a direct Zoom link will be sent to you one hour before the scheduled start time of each session. This link will provide you with quick access to the Zoom meeting.

CME/CE: 
Information on how to claim credit will be provided during the session.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Review, and integrate varying school mental health models, strategies, and best practices into practice.
  2. Cultivate communication skills for productive collaboration in mental health knowledge-sharing and treatment among school-based staff and providers and youth and their families.
  3. Engage meaningfully in cross-system dialogue regarding social determinants of health and how best to support the health and wellbeing of youth and their families.
  4. Leverage community participation and expertise to improve mental health care for youth in school-based settings.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Stanford Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. 

Credit Designation 
American Medical Association (AMA) 
Stanford Medicine designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 8.0 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) 
Stanford Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 8.0 ANCC contact hours.  

ASWB Approved Continuing Education Credit (ACE) – Social Work Credit 
As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Stanford Medicine is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit.
