Overview
The history of Muslims addressing mental health extends back to Prophetic times, and to inform our current practice and future we must acknowledge the lessons of the past and as we look towards the future. This year’s conference aims to broadly examine the impact of technology on Muslim mental health and Islamic Psychology. We recognize the vast implications of technology, ranging from community education and awareness; the reality (and illusion) of interconnectedness; the use of tech applications; and innovations in prevention, assessment, clinical practice, care, and research.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Enhance cultural competency to be able to provide culturally and religiously appropriate care
  2. Demonstrate ways to meaningfully provide whole-person care for Muslim patients
  3. Describe the issues that marginalized Muslim patients may face, including discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, cultural background, or faith
  4. Discuss how to coordinate community resources when caring for clients from different cultural backgrounds
  5. Identify successful counseling methods for Muslim students that implement culturally- and religiously-congruent techniques in clinical settings

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Stanford Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

American Medical Association (AMA) 
Stanford Medicine designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 10.75 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

ASWB Approved Continuing Education Credit (ACE) - Social Work Credit
As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Stanford Medicine is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Social workers completing this live activity receive 11.25 continuing education credits.
