Overview
This workshop will outline the CFT psychoeducation of how evolution has influenced humans to develop complex neurological structures that can exhibit a natural threat bias that can lead towards dissociating, problematic attention, and over-estimating threats, resulting in ‘better safe than sorry’ algorithms. This workshop aims to guide participants through CFT formulation of voice-hearing and delusions, which focuses on protective functions, particularly in the context of interpersonal threat and trauma.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Describe the Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) model and its relevance for people with psychosis.
  2. Discuss psychoeducation about evolved brains.
  3. Discuss techniques to facilitate compassionate relating to self, to others, to voices, and to parts that strongly hold beliefs.
  4. Develop strategies to create internal cues of safeness (from the body) and external cues of safeness.

In support of improving patient care, Stanford Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

American Medical Association (AMA) 
Stanford Medicine designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 15.50 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

ASWB Approved Continuing Education Credit (ACE) – Social Work Credit 
As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Stanford Medicine is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit.
