Pediatric Grand Rounds (RECORDING) Academic Activism: Choosing the Right Place and the Right Time

This presentation is a recording of a Stanford Pediatric Grand Rounds Session.  World-renowned experts will present the latest research, practice guidelines, and treatment protocols to advance best practices in the care of pediatric patients. These online recordings will provide pediatricians and family physicians with up-to-date clinical information on a wide range of clinical issues encountered in daily pediatric practice. In this session, we will learn effective strategies of how to overcome clear evidence of bigotry, systematic racism, or both to advance the medical care of children and adults with sickle cell disease.

1. Learn about the clinical history of improved survival of children and adults with sickle cell disease in the current era.
2. Review current successes and failures in the curative treatment of sickle cell disease in children and adults.
3. Discuss clinical and genetic strategies to improve health outcomes before and after curative therapy in children and adults with sickle cell disease.
