Overview

The objective of this summit is to bridge connections between stakeholders to engage in thought-provoking and meaningful discussion that addresses the current lack of diversity in clinical trials. Through these synergies, we aim to propose effective and innovative recommendations that can improve the enrollment of underrepresented participant populations and advance the science of diversity in clinical trials. The goal is to bring together academic, industry, and community partners to:

  • Advance diversity in clinical trials across the board
  • Understand needs, identify barriers, and brainstorm solutions
  • Share experiences and shape best practices
  • Create opportunities for future collaboration
  • Promote health equity

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Describe the needs and identify the barriers to recruiting participants from underrepresented groups in clinical trials.
  2. Implement effective and innovative recommendations for improving the enrollment of participants from underrepresented groups in clinical trials.
  3. Determine how we define diversity for the future of clinical trials, including people with disabilities.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Stanford Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
