Overview
The Stanford Cellular Immune Tolerance educational symposium is a one day event that will highlight cutting-edge research and clinical studies of cellular therapy interventions for transplantation and autoimmunity. The symposium will provide participants with updated information about different cell therapy strategies including hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, T regulatory cell therapy, dendritic cell therapy and modifying tissues for immune evasion. The review will utilize a variety of learning modalities including didactics, panel discussion and audience response questions, to facilitate meaningful interactions between expert faculty presenters and symposium participants.

Credits
AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (5.50 hours), ABIM MOC Part 2 (5.50 hours), Non-Physician Participation Credit (5.50 hours)

Target Audience
Specialties - Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Rheumatology, Surgery
Professions - Fellow/Resident, Non-Physician, Nurse, Physician, Physician Associate, Student

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Identify and contextualize key cellular therapy treatment strategies that are in clinical practice or under clinical trial investigation for transplantation and/or the treatment of autoimmune diseases such hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, T regulatory cell therapy and others.
  2. Assess the data to support the use of autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for the treatment of scleroderma and multiple sclerosis.
  3. Evaluate the clinical trial investigation and implementation of genetically modified T regulatory cells for use in the prevention or treatment of transplantation rejection and autoimmunity such as Type 1 diabetes or rheumatoid arthritis
  4. Discuss how the development of cellular immune tolerance may shape the implementation of stem cell and regenerative medicine therapeutics.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Stanford Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
