Overview

Internet Enduring Material sponsored by Stanford University School of Medicine. Presented by the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Stanford University School of Medicine. This recorded webinar explores the connection between gut health & the many facets of health and well-being from three Stanford experts in the field. This activity discusses what we have learned about the microbiome so far, the important role nutrition plays in maintaining a healthy microbiome, and what we are hoping to learn about the effect of diet during pregnancy on infant microbiomes in the Maternal & Offspring Microbiome Study (MOMS). The activity defines and discusses the importance of probiotics and prebiotics, explores how early in life we develop our microbiomes, the role of diet during pregnancy, and our understanding about how mothers transmit their microbes to their infants.

For more information on the MOMS study, please visit https://med.stanford.edu/nutrition/research/current-studies/fefifo-moms.html
