Overview
Internet Enduring Material sponsored by Stanford University School of Medicine and Stanford Health Care.  This course features a collaboration between ACES (Advancing Communication Excellence at Stanford) relationship-centered communication skills and the Tele-Presence 5 evidence-based framework to offer strategies for enhancing relationship-centered communication in virtual health visits. The COVID-19 pandemic has upended the traditional clinic visit for patients and healthcare providers around the world. Healthcare systems are rapidly scaling up telemedicine to reduce risk of infection and protect providers and patients. While these virtual interactions offer critical services, the technology can generate a barrier to the human connection that is central to clinical care. This activity will provide an evidence-based communication framework to help clinicians foster humanism during virtual clinical encounters.
