Overview

The course uses both a system and programmatic lens to help build the most effective assessment program for your own residency or fellowship. The course will start with an overview of key concepts and principles in outcomes-based education. We will then explore key issues in assessment before focusing on specific assessment methods, approaches and tools.

This course is a very interactive and the expectation is that all learners will participate via Zoom with video and audio.  We are looking forward to having you join us!

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (18.50 hours), Non-Physician Participation Credit (18.50 hours)

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:  

  1. Apply key principles of outcomes-based education in graduate medical education training programs
  2. Optimize the use of developmental assessment based on goals and principles of Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME)
  3. Understand and then apply key issues in rater cognition and their implications for effective assessment
  4. Build an effective assessment program by choosing and applying appropriate assessment tools
  5. Improve approaches to use of multi-faceted longitudinal assessment data for professional development
  6. Employ effective practices in work-based assessment
  7. Develop a personal action plan for change in their own residency or fellowship program

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Stanford Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

American Medical Association (AMA)
