Overview

The Serious Illness Asynchronous Communication Skills Training consists of two parts: a three-video didactic and post-viewing test; and a live (on Zoom) skills practice session. Part 1 and Part 2 must be completed with no more than 1 week elapsed between the didactic and skills practice.

Clinicians will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to have an advance care planning conversation with their seriously ill patients by learning to use Ariadne Labs’ Serious Illness Conversation Guide as well as attending to the strong emotion elicited by these conversations. Lastly, clinicians will see the standard Stanford method for documenting conversations in EPIC so that their patient's goals and values can be communicated to all health care team members. To learn more about the Serious Illness Care Program, visit https://med.stanford.edu/advancecareplanning.html.

Click Register to begin to access Part 1: Video Didactic Modules and Post Test. Complete Part 1 by viewing the three videos and passing the post test with a score of at least 75%. You are scheduled to attend Part 2 of the training within the next 7 days.
