A Multidisciplinary Approach to Healthcare Sustainability

In this half-day symposium, both in-person and live-streamed via Zoom, physicians from various specialties and thought leaders from across the country will explore innovative ways to approach environmentally sustainable healthcare practices. The symposium will cover a range of topics, including using the electronic health record (EHR) to promote sustainable practices, reducing the environmental impact of anesthesia and surgery, environmentally friendly inhaler initiatives, and reducing the use of plastics in healthcare. The plenary session will explore value-based care and health care sustainability.

1. Identify the impact of healthcare on national and global greenhouse gas emissions.
2. Explore best practices and innovative approaches for promoting sustainability in clinical practice.
3. Discuss the concept of value-based care in healthcare sustainability.

In support of improving patient care, Stanford Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
