Overview
The Global Pediatric Cardiac Conference will be held in Suva, Fiji Islands, as well as be offered live via Zoom, and will be focused on the delivery of Pediatric Cardiac Care in developing countries and resource-limited settings. It will bring together a wide range of professionals with experts in Global Health, General Pediatrics, Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Anesthesiology, Pediatric Cardiac Surgery, Pediatric Cardiac Nursing, Medical Education, Nursing Education, and others. Learners will be encouraged to ask questions and participate in the discussions after each talk. Models of in-patient care will also be discussed, focusing on compassionate care delivered to underserved populations completely free of cost. Opportunities for overseas training will be made available to both clinical and non-clinical trainees, together with opportunities for collaborative research.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Identify key needs of congenital cardiac care in underserved international areas.
  2. Formulate a manpower & infrastructure plan for a center serving such patient populations.
  3. Describe cellular changes in pediatric heart failure and learn how to use mechanical support functions to treat patients.
  4. Set up anesthesia in an underserved area and develop regional techniques to help with pain control following pediatric cardiac surgery.
  5. Develop a system for continuous learning and keep up to date on the latest congenital cardiac advances.

In support of improving patient care, Stanford Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
