Overview

This activity is comprised of two components. The first component includes online learning of course material aimed at improving the therapist’s skills and knowledge related to key components of Family-Based Treatment (FBT) for Anorexia Nervosa (AN) in adolescents. The online learning will consist of twelve pre-recorded lectures which will take about 9 hours in total to view/review. One lecture will be released weekly for the learners to complete over the course of 12 weeks. Each lecture is comprised of a video given by Dr. Lock or Dr. Le Grange that discusses the Family Based Treatment model, scientific background, skills, and implementation. The second component of the activity includes live 1:1 supervision/coaching with an expert supervisor in Family Based Treatment. During the 12 week period immediately following the completion of the online training program, the learners will receive consultation from the supervisors totaling 12 hours regarding their implementation of FBT on their first two patients.

  1. Describe the key components of Family Based Treatment (FBT) for Anorexia Nervosa (AN)
  2. Demonstrate the effective key FBT behavioral skills of externalization and agnosticism
  3. Integrate FBT into treatment of adolescent patients with Anorexia Nervosa (AN)
  4. Utilize FBT strategies and skills to achieve successful patient outcomes
