Overview
Millions use large language models (LLM) for mental health support in a de facto, unregulated public health intervention, yet evidence remains inconclusive. Gaus et al.’s PRISMA-ScR review of 132 studies on transformer-based LLMs found a major gap between widespread adoption and limited evidence, calling for rigorous trials, stronger safety standards, and clinically meaningful benchmarks. Mental health professionals can join this webinar to gain skills to critically appraise emerging AI tools and apply responsible evaluation standards. Together we will discuss whether and how generative AI can meaningfully and ethically improve access to mental health treatment.

  3. Apply standardized, clinically meaningful benchmarks to determine whether LLM applications are appropriate for integration into practice.
