Overview
The 2023 Updates in Gastroenterology and Hepatology Course will explore the current state of the art in the fields of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and provide a concise update targeted to the practicing gastroenterologist, hepatologist, primary care provider, internist, family practitioner, nurse practitioner, physician assistant and nurse. Participants will learn practical strategies and diagnostic approaches to key practice areas including esophageal disease, motility disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, pancreaticobiliary disease, cancer screening, liver disorders, abdominal pain and obesity. Using an integrated educational approach that encompasses didactic lectures, Q&A panels, debates and interactive case presentations, speakers will discuss recent advances in technology, research, diagnosis, guidelines and treatment strategies. The field of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is rapidly expanding and practice paradigms have changed markedly in key areas even within the past few years. This course is designed to address seminal updates to ensure that the busy practitioner has the most current knowledge in order to provide optimal care for their patients with gastrointestinal needs.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Analyze the complaint of dyphagia
  2. Manage diarrhea in the context of inflammatory bowel disease
  3. Determine appropriate treatment approaches to use to treat viral hepatitis
  4. Evaluate the diagnostic options available for abdominal pain to further define symptom etiology
  5. Consider medical and surgical treatment approaches for reflux and appropriately utilize these therapies
